More Than You’ll Ever Know Book Review

More Than You’ll Ever Know by Katie Gutierrez was an interesting dual-timeline crime mystery, told from dual POVs. The first is a woman at the center of a two-husband double life, Lore, and the second is a true crime blogger, Cassie.

Cassie comes across an article from a crime that took place in Cassie’s life decades prior and something in it sparks the investigative journalist in her. She finds Lore, convinces her to write a book about her life, and the story takes off.

This book felt like part mystery and part family drama, with a level of detail that reminds me of true crime podcasts. It’s a group effort between the author, characters, and reader to solve the mystery and clues are methodically revealed. The mystery was interesting, but I also loved that Lore and Cassie learn from each other on deeper levels, each on their own journey.

If you enjoy true crime podcasts or look for mysteries without the jumpiness of thrillers, this is an excellent choice. Thriller tension is my wheelhouse so at times this felt like it was missing a little something, but as a crime mystery it is a well-written, interesting story. And it’s a debut novel! Love those.
