Block Shot Book Review
Block Shot by Kennedy Ryan … what can I say, I finally understand all the love for Jared and Banner. This book is the second in the Hoops series and SHEW it is a hot one.
In it we meet Jared and Banner, two college students studying sports management. Banner is a brilliant woman who is focused on her grades and her career. Jared is an arrogant mess who thinks he should be able to have any woman he wants, and he wants Banner.
They both have a pull to each other and because of one spectacularly awful night, they don’t cross paths again for years. But the world of sports is small and when they find each other again as adults, they can’t tear themselves apart. Even if that means hurting the people they love most.
Listen to me when I say Jared is a whole mess. He is unapologetically arrogant and possessive and in the first 2/3 of the book I could not understand why people loved him so much. I messaged my Kennedy Ryan obsessed friend immediately and she confirmed he is absolutely unhinged but I needed to keep reading.
I did and she was right – by the end I somehow fell for this ridiculous, messy character.
Ryan’s writing style is my perfect mix of substantial storylines and deep characters mixed with spicy scenes that would make you blush if someone overheard them. If you want the dirty talk and steamy banter without sacrificing the storyline, this is the book for you.
Up next for me in her backlist…. The Grip series.
