One True Loves Book Review

Taylor Jenkins Reid is an author I will always read and when I saw her book, One True Loves, available on Libby I borrowed it right away.  There was so much about this book that felt like familiar TJR and with Julia Whelan narrating, even more so.  That said, it’s a lighter investment of your time and emotions as compared to other novels from the author.

In this story the reader meets Emma, who is married to her high school sweetheart, Jesse, when he unexpectedly goes missing.  After time, he is assumed dead, and she grieves while moving forward in her life. She reconnects with another high school friend, and they eventually get engaged.  Right before their wedding, Jesse is found then he returns to Emma.

The remainder of the book is about Emma’s struggle to choose between her two loves, and how each of them are processing the situation as well.  This one was a classic “liked not loved” for me.  It felt a bit cliché at times, and I didn’t connect with her conflict, but it filled a quick palate cleanser for me between heavier books.
